The Studio Bomber is our newest jacket fit this season, with a tailored raglan shape and balanced proportions. The Mirage effect is built through a 15-step, hand-painted dye treatment developed over years with our dye house. Its soft, peach-fuzz surface catches light differently from every angle, giving the denim a subtle glow.

Craft / Fabric
At TONE DEAF, denim is a craft. Every piece begins with fibers developed for the dye treatment, then moves through weaving, dyeing, cutting, stitching, and finishing entirely under one roof. This vertical process gives us control over every detail, from the tension of the weave to the shape of the jacket.
The Mirage effect comes from a 15-step recipe developed over years with our dye house. After years of testing, this is the version we were trying to reach. Each jacket is painted and treated by hand to create a soft, peach-fuzz surface that catches light differently from one angle to the next.
It is another example of how our most technically complex denim has also become our most handmade. Our vertically integrated facility gives us control over the fiber, weave, and construction. The handwork creates the final glow and surface, with subtle variations in every jacket.

SUSTAINABILITY
Tone Deaf Studios aims to source responsibly and manufacture sustainably:
- All the cotton we source is responsibly produced and meets at least one of four international certifications for quality and impact. In addition to Recoverâ„¢ recycled cotton, we use cotton that has been certified from the Better Cotton Institute (BCI) and Cotton USAâ„¢. This provides us supply chain traceability to ensure our cotton meets social, ethical, and environmental standards that protect and promote the livelihood of cotton farming communities.
- A typical pair of jeans takes 1500 gallons of water to produce. Ours take less than 10. Our manufacturer treats and recycles 98% of the water we use in their in-house treatment plant.
- After it’s used in the manufacturing process, water is funneled into the in-house treatment plant, where a bacteria eats the indigo dye so the water is safe to return to municipal drains.
- Our denim is made using Dystar Liquid Indigo, a pre-reduced dye that needs less water and minimizes harmful byproducts. It’s made of just three ingredients: indigo, soda, and water.
- Each jean is tracked throughout the manufacturing process using Jeanologia’s EIM software. We monitor water, energy, and other resources to make sure each piece falls within our standards for sustainability and efficiency.
